Job Description
Bolsover District Council is a dynamic and ambitious organisation that takes pride in delivering excellent services to our community whilst driving economic growth and environmental sustainability for the district.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced professional to work in the Council's Information and Engagement Team. The role will involve assisting the Information and Engagement Manager responsible for all UK GDPR and Freedom of Information matters and will be the Council's Deputy Data Protection Officer (DPO). The role will be responsible for supervising the officer responsible for processing FOI and EIR applications as well as subject access requests. The successful applicant will also assist the manager in relation to all equalities matters and various engagement/consultation projects. Finally, the successful applicant will assist in facilitating the Bolsover District Youth Council which includes 36 young people from the six secondary schools across the district.
You will be required to work closely with clients from across the Council and its wholly owned companies together with its councillors.
To be successful you will need:
- Degree level education or strong evidence of intellectual capacity developed through extended job experience
- Detailed knowledge of UK GDPR, Environmental Information Regulations and Freedom of Information legislation in relation to local government
- Knowledge of best practice in relation to information provision
- Knowledge of working in a political environment and awareness of sensitivities and decision-making processes
- Proven management experience or supervisory responsibility for staff as well as experience of working in a relevant environment.
