Matlock/Hybrid (Fixed term contract 1 year)

Are you able to problem solve and work with a wide range of partner agencies including the emergency services, health, local authorities, military and a range of government departments? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic senior emergency planning officer to work within the Derbyshire County Council Emergency Planning Team.
What will I be doing:
- The role requires the production of emergency plans and guidance and advice to local authorities for both emergency planning and business continuity
- You will be responsible for the planning, writing, co-ordination, training and exercising of emergency plans for risks within Derbyshire
- You will be required to develop your emergency planning and business continuity knowledge and skills as appropriate
- Use a variety of national and local information sources and have a good knowledge and experience of using information technology including GIS mapping
What skills and experience do you need to have:
- Excellent organisation skills and able to prioritise workload to demanding and sometimes conflicting deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and high-level communication skills
- Be able to work out of hours as part of a duty officer rota
- Be able to interact with senior personnel from a range of organisations
- Be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team

This post will be based at County Hall in Matlock, Derbyshire, but as a part of our Modern Ways of Working programme, we are currently working on a hybrid basis. You will be required to work flexibly which may involve working from home as well as in the office, and at another local authority base dependent on the needs of the service. If a sufficient amount of appointable candidates are successful, consideration may be given for a role to be undertaken on a part-time basis.
Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
