Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced teacher to join our team in September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. Candidates must hold a mandatory qualification for teaching children and young people with vision impairment or be willing to complete a post graduate diploma in this field. If the successful candidate does not hold the mandatory qualification to teach CYP with vision impairment, completion of the 2-year post graduate training course will be funded by the local authority and completed within the first 3 years of employment. Following training, it would be anticipated that you would work with Durham Sensory Team for a minimum of 2 years.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
This is a peripatetic post supporting CYP with vision impairment and their families in homes, mainstream and specialist educational settings across all age ranges from birth to 25. Ideally, you will have worked across the primary/secondary sector and have extensive experience and understanding of the modification of curriculum delivery to meet the needs of CYP with additional needs.

Essential qualifications for this role are:
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Mandatory qualification in the teaching of CYP with vision impairment (QTVI) OR currently undertaking a QTVI qualification OR willing to complete a QTVI qualification
