Our very happy, smiley 15-year-old client who can be somewhat mischievous client is looking for an animal loving Support Worker who would love to join him and his small Care team in creating arts and crafts and gardening Interviews are being booked now so please get in touch if you think the job below would be a good fit for you.
The Role:
Our 15-year-old client lives at home with his parents, dog and 2 cats and is supported in achieving his therapy goals by his small care team.
Our client has cerebral palsy and epilepsy and uses a wheelchair full-time; he therefore requires round the clock support with all aspects of his daily living including personal care, (mostly on his medical grade floor mat) feeding and medication.
He is currently non-verbal but working with his therapists and team, along with using eye gaze and a smart box to communicate and gaining confidence with verbal language.
As a typical young boy, he loves being out and about and visiting places where he can enjoy interactive play so the Support Worker would have to be able to drive his large, automatic vehicle. When at home our client loves spending time in the garden and doing arts and crafts. Full training in all aspects of our client's care will be given along with supervision and support of the private therapy team. You will be working with another Support Worker from the team.
About you:
- You will be a driver able to drive our client's large automatic vehicle
- You will support our client by following his care plan and implementing his therapy programme.
- You will provide support with feeding, hoisting, personal care and administration of medication. He currently spends a large amount of time on a personalised medical grade floor mat so you will need to be able to kneel, bend, crouch, roll him and sit on the mat regularly whilst providing care
- Our client has friendly pets - 2 cats and a dog - so you will be happy to work in an environment where animals are present and have no allergies
- You will be flexible, reliable, patient and have a positive and empathetic attitude to working with a child with additional needs and supporting him whilst helping to develop his skills.
- You will have experience working with adults or children with Cerebral Palsy or similar
- You will hold an NVQ 2 in Health & Social Care/Care Certificate (or equivalent).
Pay:
- £16 per hour weekdays
- £17 per hour weekends
- £18 per hour bank holidays
- £11.44 per hour sleeping nights
Shifts:
Please do apply even if you can only work some of these hours as we will still consider your application. There is a 4-week rolling rota. Additional hours will be available to cover staff annual leave or sickness. Nights are mainly sleeping nights and you will be paid at waking night rate if disturbed.

Sat 8pm - 8am Sun (12 hours) (Sleeping Night)
Week 2 (Total 11 Hours)
Weds 8pm -7am Thurs (11 hours) (Sleeping Night)
Week 3 (Total 23 Hours)
Fri 8pm -7am Sat (11 hours)

Sat 8pm - 8am Sun (12 hours)
(Sleeping Night)
Week 4 (Total 12 Hours)
Sun (day shift) 8am-8 pm (12 hours)
Average of 14.5 hours a week.
