Role: Senior Staff Nurse - Paediatric Pre-Assessment Unit
12-Month Fixed-Term Contract - Maternity Cover
Location: The Portland Hospital for Women and Children
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 08:00-18:00, with flexibility required)

We're looking for a Senior Staff Nurse to join our Paediatric Pre-Assessment Unit at The Portland Hospital. Currently rated "Good" by the CQC, The Portland Hospital is the UK's only fully private hospital dedicated to women and children. We are internationally renowned for clinical excellence, offering state-of-the-art care in Paediatrics.
As a deputy to the Sister/Charge Nurse, the Senior Staff Nurse is instrumental in ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are delivered in the pre-assessment unit. You will be assessing paediatric patients pre-operatively, working closely with Consultants, Anaesthetists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure a smooth surgical pathway. Additionally, you will provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families, work within safeguarding frameworks, and ensure all pre-operative documentation is accurately maintained to uphold patient safety and hospital standards.

What you'll bring:
- Registered Nurse (RN Child/RSCN) with current NMC registration.
- Paediatric nursing experience, ideally within a Pre-Assessment or Surgical setting.
- Strong clinical judgement and decision-making skills.
- Level 3 safeguarding children training undertaken within the last 12 months
- Excellent communication and IT skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team within a fast-paced environment.
