Role: Theatre Support Assistant

Location: The Portland Hospital

Hours: Permanent, Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Shifts: Monday to Saturday, Early (07:30am-16:00pm), Late (12:30pm-21:00pm) and long days (07:30am: 21:00pm), 1 Saturday per week.

Salary: Competitive + Shift Allowances

We are looking for a Theatre Support Assistant to join our Theatre department at The Portland Hospital, currently rated "Good" by the CQC. The Portland Hospital is part of the established leading private healthcare company, HCA Healthcare. Established for over 50 years.

The Portland Hospital is the only private hospital in the UK dedicated to the healthcare of women and children. We're the UK's largest private children's hospital with over 46 paediatric beds including a 10-bed intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, and a day case unit. Caring for over 40,000 children a year, we provide treatment for everything from general paediatric conditions to complex craniofacial reconstruction. We have over 175 paediatric consultants available to treat children from new-born up to the age of 18.

The 4 theatres at Portland provide a vibrant, exciting and professional environment where the advance equipment and technology is second to none and includes fully integrated and equipped theatres, including hybrid theatre.

The theatre team comprises of Consultants and Practitioners who have vast experience and knowledge across a range of specialties. There are many complex procedures carried out daily, across a range of acute specialities, including Gynae & Obstetrics, as well as general and paediatric surgery.

What you will do:

  • You will be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance.

  • Participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain the agreed standards of care.

  • Cleaning of theatre and recovery areas before and after operating sessions, also adhering to the weekly cleaning schedule.

  • Stocking of cupboards and stock containers against agreed stock levels.

  • Collecting and escorting the patient, and assisting with transferring of the patient from trolley to table under supervision of trained staff.

  • Assisting with the safe positioning of patient on operating table.

  • Acting as circulating person for the scrub team and within the scope of the role

What you will bring:

  • Theatre Support Worker / Health care assistant experience working in an Operating Theatre

  • Knowledge of Healthcare Computer Systems, Meditech, Microsoft, outlook,

  • Knowledge of Infection prevention control knowledge.

  • Knowledge of WHO / Safety checks in Theatres (essential)
