The service you will work in....

The Hestia Highbury Grove Recovery House (HGRH), which is often referred to as a crisis house, provides a community crisis alternative for male or male identifying individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, as an alternative to inpatient admission. HGRH provides 24/7 mental health crisis support for up to 12 male or male identifying individuals requiring mental health support, for up to 14 days. Access is via referral by practitioner or self and subject to assessment by the HGRH team. HGRH is staffed by Recovery Workers, Waking Night Recovery Workers and Re-settlement and Re-integration Workers, employed by Hestia. HGRH is a welcoming, psychologically informed safe space.

The service aims to support and enhance crisis care by offering a non-clinical alternative to hospital admission, in a homely environment with 24/7 support available. HGRH will normally offer up to 14 day stays for male or male identifying individuals who present in self-defined mental health crisis, referred through Mental Health practitioners within the North Central London NHS Trust or by self-referral. The focus of the Recovery House is to support people on their recovery journey by utilising their own networks, building resilience and accessing community resources, as an alternative to admission to a mental health ward.

A day in this role looks like....

As a Team Managerat Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Highbury grove recovery house. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • To lead operational day to day delivery of the HGRH under the direction of the Service Manager
  • With the Service Manager, to develop joint working and monitoring protocols with key stakeholders and partners for the HGRH
  • To maintain partnerships with key stakeholders for the HGRH
  • To manage day to day service performance related to the contract requirements including delivery against KPIs, outcomes and user experience measures
  • With the Service Manager to ensure timely and accurate submission of all internal and external reports detailing interim strategies to address any areas of underperformance in line with contract requirements
  • To work with the Service Manager to develop and implement the service's annual Business Plans and Equality plans ensuring plans are aligned with the organisational strategic aims and the contractual requirements
  • Implement the Recovery House's co-production strategy
  • To maintain the continuing relevance of all of the provision of the service to customers' needs and to the funders' requirements by ongoing planning, monitoring, evaluating and effective service delivery with the Service Manager
  • To support the client facing staff (Recovery Workers and Waking Night Workers) to achieve the agreed standards of service delivery in line with clients' needs and aspirations as well as compliance with relevant legislation, external governance, contract requirements and Hestia policies and procedures for the Recovery House
  • To ensure a healthy and safe environment for employees, members, customers, visiting professionals and other visitors by ensuring service delivery is in line with organisational procedures and H&S Legislation
  • To liaise with Service Manager and senior staff and the landlord of the building regarding H & S responsibilities and reporting any deficits
  • To ensure any repairs which are Hestia's responsibility are undertaken in a timely fashion, minimising void losses where possible; to report all repairs to the landlord which are the landlord's responsibility and chase up to ensure they are undertaken in a timely fashion.
  • To provide effective and inspiring leadership, management and support to the Recovery Workers and Waking Night Workers at the HGRH
  • To manage the recruitment and induction of new client facing staff
  • To engage direct reports in annual appraisal and regular supervision
  • To work with the Service manager in planning, negotiating and managing the budgets for the Recovery House
  • To enable service users to work alongside staff as partners in the delivery of
  • To define the relationship between service users and staff as one of mutuality and reciprocity, rather than of dependency
  • To ensure that the organisation's strategies are met and policies, procedures and values are adhered to in all matters of service delivery

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Demonstrable experience of supporting people with mental health and complex needs
  • Experience and expertise to manage local management and staff working with people who have complex issues and health problems and a strong understanding of Recovery approaches and co-production incl. knowledge of issues affecting those individuals including paid Experts by Experience staff
  • Experience in recruitment, induction, supervision, motivation, appraisal, training
  • Experience of performance monitoring and maintaining consistently high delivery standards and service user standards
  • Experience and familiarity with running services in an accommodation based setting, including repairs and maintenance and a basic understanding of building and physical health and safety.
  • Knowledge of Community Care, Mental health, Health and Safety and welfare benefits legislation (including welfare reform
  • Knowledge of methods of assessing, formulating, implementing, recording, reviewing and auditing service users' support and safety assessment plans
  • Good knowledge of MS Office systems, able to use computer systems including case management systems to create accurate reports and able to assess and audit staff ability to use computer systems to record client data accurately and to a high standard
  • Ability to write and interpret reports; excellent level of spoken and written English
  • Ability to work flexibly, including out of hours during the evening, weekends/BH
  • Ability to complete and record accurate financial transactions and experience of managing budgets and keeping within budget
