About Us: Lancashire County Council is committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults. We are looking for a dedicated Social Care Support Officer to join our Safeguarding Adults team. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of adults across Lancashire, working collaboratively with various professionals and agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with partners and providers to understand and implement Lancashire County Council Safeguarding Guidance.
- Close safeguarding alerts that do not meet Care Act 2014 criteria and complete referrals for support as directed.
- Support partners and providers in raising safeguarding alerts using the safeguarding portal.
- Design and deliver presentations to enhance understanding of safeguarding practices.
- Visit providers to offer direct support and guidance on safeguarding issues.
- Review Section 42 organisational alerts and support progress against Safeguarding Adults Protection Plans.
- Attend and contribute to RADAR meetings, QPIP, and other formal safeguarding meetings.
- Assist social workers with complex alerts and information gathering.
- Support the Lancashire County Council Adult Social Care Academy for new staff.
- Engage in data recording, collation, and cleansing tasks.
- Develop new ways of working with partners to improve service delivery.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of safeguarding adults.
- Ability to keep accurate records.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work within a team and liaise with other agencies.
- Understanding of the cultures and religions of Lancashire communities.
- Skills in dealing with the public sensitively, often at times of distress.

- Familiarity with relevant computer systems.
- Essential car user (consideration given to applicants unable to drive due to disability).

You must be registered (SWE) to be appointed as a Social Worker or have applied to register with the Social Care Council. For Social Worker/Care Manager positions where non social worker qualifications are accepted, registration is not required, and you will be appointed as a Care Manager.
