About the Role:Lancashire County Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Adult Social Care team. This role involves contributing to the leadership and development of the team while providing a strength-based, outcome-focused assessment service to adults across community and hospital settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and provide a strength-based, outcome-focused assessment service to eligible adults within Lancashire.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to meet statutory social care responsibilities, identify safeguarding issues, address complex needs, promote independence and choice, and support individuals to achieve their ideal outcomes.
  • Manage and prioritize a reduced caseload, including complex and contentious cases.
  • Supervise staff and support the Team Manager with various management duties, including the supervision of newly qualified staff and team members.
  • Chair and coordinate meetings specific to the service area.
  • Undertake work related to legal processes and produce high-quality assessments and reports.
  • Contribute to policy, procedural, and service development to improve practice and implement change.
  • Represent the Authority internally and externally as required.

Person Specification:Qualifications:

  • SW, CSS, DipSW, or Social Work Degree
  • Current Social Work England registration

Experience:

  • At least 3 years' experience as a Social Worker
  • Experience in undertaking complex work with a range of client groups
  • Experience in managing a caseload and competing priorities
  • Experience in supporting students or less experienced staff

Skills and Abilities:

  • Detailed knowledge of relevant social care legislation
  • Ability to assess and analyze need and risk, and plan/commission care with individuals
  • Effective organizational skills, able to prioritize and manage a caseload independently under pressure
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to motivate and support the long-term development of staff
  • IT literate, with experience in using manual and computer systems for record keeping

You must be registered (SWE) to be appointed as a Social Worker or have applied to register with the Social Care Council. For Social Worker/Care Manager positions where non social worker qualifications are accepted, registration is not required, and you will be appointed as a Care Manager.
