Leeds Baby Bank is looking for a Driver to join the team and would love to hear from you!
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing charity dedicated to ensuring all children can thrive and develop as they should.
At Leeds Baby Bank our mission is to ensure no child goes without. We support families in Leeds, with children aged 0-5 years, who are experiencing poverty. We provide families with all the essentials and equipment they need for their babies and young children. This includes bed bundles, nappies and toiletries, baby baths, potties, highchairs, prams and buggies, clothes and shoes, toys and books.
About the role
Being a Driver for Leeds Baby Bank's
is an essential role within the charity's small staff team. You will be the face of Leeds Baby Bank for many of our beneficiaries as you deliver their much-needed items to their homes. You will also assist with the sorting, packing and monitoring of stock levels.
You will be confident driver with a passion for delivering good customer service, and someone who believes in the mission of Leeds Baby Bank. You will be a good communicator who is able to speak with our beneficiaries without judgement and with compassion and warmth. Leeds Baby Bank has been operating for over eight years and is about to take a big step in its journey. We are a friendly and dedicated team of six paid staff, over thirty volunteers and a supportive board of trustees. Together we work hard to deliver for families, in partnership with our network of referral partners. This is an exciting time to join the charity, and this role of driver provides an opportunity to make a real difference to families in need in Leeds.

Main duties and responsibilities
- Assist with sorting, packing and monitoring stock levels.
- Deliver equipment and donations to beneficiaries and external organisations - this will include the physical lifting and moving of stock, as well as using Leeds Baby Bank vehicle.
- Work alongside volunteers in the planning of stock allocation and delivery.
- Maintain accurate records, including logging of stock and records of deliveries.
- Dispose of unsuitable stock.
- Carry out daily visual health and safety checks on Leeds Baby Bank vehicle ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice.
- Ensure charity vehicles are left secure, clean and presentable at the end of the day, and ensure any defects and damage is reported promptly.
- Ensure that the vehicle is parked safely and charged, as required.
- Be an ambassador for the charity whilst driving branded vehicles, ensuring that you drive carefully and mindfully of other road users.
- Manage the transport of confidential information between the charity's unit and beneficiary delivery addresses in a GDPR compliant manner.
- Support with our weekly outreach program.
- Have conversations with families, to discover if there is more long-term support we can offer.
- Undertake other duties relevant to the purpose of the role as required or requested by Leeds Baby Bank.
- Be flexible and adaptable in the undertaking of any other related duties.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week
The hours for this role are to be confirmed and can be discussed at the interview
Salary: £12.21 per hour, National Living Wage
Location: Leeds Baby Bank, St John's Centre, Leeds. Moving to a new location near Armley gyratory in 2025.
