Job Description
We cater for pupils between the ages of 2 and 19 with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, on specialist sites and mainstream partnership schools.
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners with special educational needs? Do you have the skills, patience, and dedication to support children in their early years' development? If so, we would love to hear from you!
West SILC is a nurturing and inclusive special school dedicated to supporting children with a range of SEND, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and complex learning needs. We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and committed Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our team and help provide high-quality learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
About the Role:
As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will: Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, play-based learning activities tailored to individual needs. Help children develop key skills in communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation. Provide one-to-one and small-group support, adapting activities to suit different learning styles and abilities. You will at times work with older primary aged pupils who need a EYFS approach. Assist with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, and mobility, where required. Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to support each child's development.
What We're Looking For: Experience working with young children in an early years setting, ideally with SEND. A good understanding of the EYFS curriculum and how to adapt it for children with additional needs. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting children with diverse abilities. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a dedicated and supportive team. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Why Join Us?
A welcoming and supportive school community. Opportunities for training and career development in SEND and early years education. A well-resourced environment with access to specialist support and interventions. The chance to make a real impact on the lives of children and their families.
If you're passionate about helping young learners thrive in their early years and want to be part of an amazing team, we'd love to hear from you!
