Work Location: This position will usually be based from Whetstone RHWS and WTS, but could be based from Kibworth Recycling and Household Waste Site (RHWS) and Waste Transfer Station (WTS) or Oadby RHWS depending on service needs.

Salary: £25,998 - £27,273 per annum (pro-rata to £28,105.92 to £29,483.21 based on 40 hours per week)
Working Hours: Annualised Hours - 40 hours per week. Usual Working Patterns - Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:00 or 9:30 to 18:00. Occasional 06:45 to 15.15 may be required. Please note the position is working full time (5 days per week which may include some weekends, both Saturdays and Sundays. Bank Holidays that fall within working patterns could be mandatory but paid as double time).

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Waste Management Delivery Service, as such Leicestershire County Council is looking to recruit a Senior Waste Site Operative & HGV Driver to support in the operation of the Council's WTS and RHWS.
About the Role
You will be responsible for operating a variety of plant and equipment that will include a HGV, loading shovels, telehandlers, and forklift trucks for the efficient and effective transfer of waste from busy WTSs and RHWSs. The role will also involve maximising the recovery of recyclables from waste and safely controlling deliveries from private traders and district councils. In addition, the successful candidate will assist the management team in the supervision and coordination of site operatives.
It is expected that the successful candidates will have previous experience of driving HGVs and operating loading shovels and telehandlers at waste or construction sites. However, training may be provided to suitable candidates that have no previous experience. The role requires a proactive, flexible, 'can do' attitude. Effective time-management and problem-solving skills are key attributes.
About You
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience of supervising operational staff and a knowledge of waste operations
- HGV licence and driver CPC, Loading shovel ticket, FLT licence (training may be provided to suitable candidates that do not currently have valid qualifications)
- WAMITAB CoTC Level 4 or above and Level 3 award in First Aid at Work, First Response or equivalent (or willing to work towards both as necessary)
- Basic and working knowledge of Microsoft Packages and IT, for example, Outlook, Excel and Word
- Working to and ensuring others follow, safe working procedures and risk assessments
- A full, Clean & Valid UK Driving Licence and insurance for business use
