Job summary

Exciting opportunities have arisen for both a permanent and a 12-month fixed term role within role within the Division of Women's & Children's Services finance team.

The roles will suit ambitious finance professionals, who are looking to assist the Divisions and its Finance Manager in improving financial control, developing financial processes and helping specialities develop their services, whilst providing appropriate financial analysis and support.

Key to delivery of the Divisions' annual financial plans is the ability to continue to improve efficiency and productivity of services and make ongoing cost improvements. The roles will help support the Divisions' Management and clinical teams in developing initiatives which will help deliver recurring financial balance.

The successful candidates will possess a high level of numeracy and IT skill, a positive, can-do attitude, be able to show initiative and work through problems, possess an enquiring mind and be strong communicators, able to explain financial data to non-finance professionals in an easily understandable way.

The postholders will be responsible for leading projects and pieces of work, as well as assisting in monthly financial reporting and forecasting cycles.

Main duties of the job

  • Be a key member of the Divisional Management Team and support the Divisional Finance Manager
  • Assist the Divisional Finance Manager in providing financial support and financial performance of the division
  • Provide support on all aspects of operation and development of financial systems within the division
  • Communicate well with both financial and non-finance colleagues to improve financial performanc

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a financial/performance environment
  • Experience of producing monthly accounts
  • Undertaking reconciliations and other forms of quality checking
  • Experience of working to deadlines Experience of working productively to achieve goals with senior managers and other non-finance staff
  • Experience of working to deadlines

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • A high level of knowledge of management accounting techniques
  • The ability to interpret and analyse complex financial information
  • Ability to lead and contribute to meetings with senior managers & present complex sensitive information in a way understandable by non - finance staff
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, as well as working knowledge of other Microsoft office applications
  • Proven ability to be organised
