Assistant Psychologist - APPly Scheme
Job Description
Job summary
We are delighted to open applications for the APPly programme in which Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust are looking for aspiring Clinical Psychologists to undertake several 6-month Assistant Psychologist roles working across the Trust (with the potential for some roles to be extended beyond 6 months depending on service need and performance). The majority of roles will be part-time but there may be the opportunity for some roles to be full-time depending on funding.
Part of the NHS Long Term Plan is to improve the diversity of the workforce to better represent the users it supports. To support this aim, Health Education England (HEE) have funded this and other opportunities to improve equity of access for entrants to clinical psychology training from groups currently under-represented. These placements are intended to give opportunities to develop initial clinical experience for aspiring Clinical Psychologists who would otherwise be excluded from entering the profession through unpaid work experience.
Main duties of the job
Successful applicants will be offered a placement in one of the directorates in Oxford Health (locations are in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire). The aim for this role is to provide clinical experience and developmental opportunities that will improve candidates' access to careers in professional psychology.
You will be under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, supporting the delivery of psychological services in a variety of roles, depending on the service's needs and your own prior experience and learning objectives for the placement.
Potential duties might include supporting individual or group psychological interventions, providing input to service audit and research projects, and data analysis and reporting. We will be providing structures for supervision and peer support and a series of teaching sessions to offer wider exposure to roles and opportunities for psychological professions in the NHS.
