Job summary

Logistics Manager Decontamination Services

We are looking to recruit a new Logistics Manager to work within our Decontamination Services Team to effectively and efficiently manage a workforce whose role includes the collection and delivery of surgical equipment.

The role includes the procurement and management of stock. Loan of surgical implants and trays for specific surgical procedures.

You must be able to communicate at all levels across the organisation and be passionate about nurturing and developing your team to ensure the highest quality of service is provided to our customers.

Main duties of the job

Day to day management and coordination of a fleet of vehicles in compliance with the Carriage of Dangerous Goods regulations

To provide a timely and planned schedule of deliveries and collections to service users thus ensuring the operational targets of the Trust are met.

Management and delivery of surgical instrumentation to operating theatres across the Trust.

Stock management of raw materials for surgical tray production.

To coordinate appropriate responses to all urgent and ad hoc requests

Job responsibilities

To be the Trust expert in all aspects relating to ADR licensing and be responsible for ensuring Trust compliance with the law.

To plan, manage and coordinate the most effective scheduling of collection and delivery of equipment to service users to maximise the efficiency of the service.

To ensure that daily scheduled demands are achieved taking into account staff absences, variations in workload and urgent requests for additional deliveries/ collections.

Ensuring that team objectives are developed and owned that, in turn fully support the overall service objectives. Reporting on progress of such objectives at regular one to one meetings.

To ensure that all law pertaining to the Carriage of Dangerous Goods regulations are met at all times and that the appropriate written information and records are maintained and audited.

Responsible for ensuring that the vehicle maintenance checks are undertaken as necessary, that records are maintained for audit purposes and vehicle availability is not impaired during maintenance checks.

To participate in identifying the most appropriate vehicle specification for delivery of service.

To be responsible for incident reporting both in line with Trust incident procedures and O licence operating procedures.

Professionally responsible for training and evaluating driver performance.

Promoting continuous improvement in the team; effectively manage change; keeping colleagues informed and motivated throughout any type of changes; supporting colleagues as necessary to adapt and improve the performance of the team.

Using service knowledge and departments tray tracking system, assist service users in locating equipment required for surgical cases.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 in Supervisory management or equivalent qualification or significant work based experience
  • Current ADR licence holder within 6 months

Desirable

  • Quality system audit training
  • A1 Assessor / TAQA
  • Level 6 in Management

Experience

  • Able to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes GVW
  • Effective performance management
