Job summary

An exciting, new opportunity has arisen within the Cancer Research Team.

The post holder will work on a range of haematology and oncology clinical research trials based at Heartlands Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for providing data management and administrative support as needed to conduct cancer research.

You will work closely with members of the direct research team as well as wider multidisciplinary teams to ensure that data is reported as per Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards. You will make sure documentation is regularly updated and will liaise with clinical trial centres and pharmaceutical companies to ensure the smooth running of cancer research trials.

Main duties of the job

This role involves but is not limited to data entry, query resolution, site file maintenance, organising and accommodating monitoring visits, processing amendments, completing study close out visits and archiving of trials.

The post holder will require the following skills to be successful in the role:

You will be expected to adhere to appropriate regulations and GCP principles to ensure high quality research and the protection of patients.

Qualifications

Essential

  • *Good General Education (e.g. GCSE English and Maths A-C/ 4-9 or equivalent)
  • *Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in an administrative environment.

Desirable

  • *Education to A level or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • *Knowledge of dealing with non-routine issues such as problem solving for an area of work
  • *Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience
  • *Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • *Experience of using IT systems
  • *Understand confidentiality and apply the principles in every day working practice
  • *Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of equality and diversity

Desirable

  • *Evidence of administrative or clinical audit experience in an NHS setting
  • *Knowledge of medical terminology and knowledge of Haematology and Oncology as required for the post.
  • *Working knowledge of patient confidentiality/ Caldicott guidelines
  • *Awareness of Research Governance as far as it affects collection of research Study data
