This role is a permanent full-time position offering 37.5 hours per week, however, requests to work condensed hours, part-time or job-share will be considered, taking into account business needs and this will be reviewed annually.

Main duties of the job

DPHC is a vibrant and fast paced organisation which aims to provide the absolute best primary healthcare to members of the Armed Forces and other entitled personnel.

DPHC delivers a clinical service in accordance with NHS Standards and MoD policies.

You will primarily provide dental treatment, oral hygiene instruction and education, administration, enhancing force generation and operational capability and minimising dental morbidity on operations. While also providing, if requested, clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in other local DPHC sites or health fairs.

Job responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Undertaking Continuous Professional Development in the core subjects of medical emergencies, Infection Prevention Control (IPC), disinfection and decontamination, radiography and radiation protection, legal and ethical issues, and handling complaints, as recommended by the General Dental Council.

Providing treatment in line with the scope of practice for dental hygienists as outlined General Dental Council publication Scope of Practice. Treatment should be delivered in line with professional guidelines e.g. BSP guidance, and in accordance with agreed patient group directive.

Supporting the Senior Dental Officer and Practice manager with administrative functions, as needed.

Deliver elements of a dental treatment plan on prescription from a registered dentist in line with professional body guidance.

Being familiar of the content of the Dental Emergency Resuscitation Kit (DERK), how to access it, how to use the components and be capable of carrying out Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) if necessary, in support of patients and colleagues.

Be prepared to travel to and work from other centres, if required, in line with contracts and policy.

Additional Information

The salary will be pro-rata where part-time hours are undertaken.

There will be no reimbursement for any travel expenses for the interview.
