Job summary
The post holder will work in conjunction with the existing Band 7 Senior Research Nurse and have responsibility for the effective and efficient operational day to day management of the Haematology & Oncology Research team, including budget control, governance, staff development and training. The post holder is professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards of professional practice and standards of care. They will provide professional leadership within the research team and provide direction and inspirational leadership to all members within the multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake and supervise clinical & research practice, audit, and teaching, to set, monitor and continuously improve standards of care and patient experience. The post holder is accountable for safe, effective clinical practice, research delivery, managing and developing team performance, managing a devolved budget, liaison with research governance and the multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will focus on maintaining and further developing our existing portfolio of research studies, working with the current Band 7 and well established team. The post will be based at Heartlands Hospital but include oversight of research delivery at both Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital, providing research opportunities for a wide range of patients in our communities.
We are looking for a candidate with enthusiasm and passion for research alongside significant experience of research and high quality patient care. Ideally the post holder will have a vision for further growth of the team and portfolio as well as a drive to continuously improve patient experience and care through research.

Qualifications
Essential
- *Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience working in clinical research
- *Registered Adult Nurse on Level 1 NMC register
- *Evidence of Mentorship/ leadership skills
- *Completion of a relevant post registration specialist course or experience in research and development.
- *ICH GCP training
Experience
Essential
- *Professional Portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
- *Substantial relevant and recent clinical experience within a complex health care setting or Acute NHS setting working as a deputy Manager Band 6 position including the supervision and education of junior staff/ students .
- *Demonstrable current, recent experience of team leadership and management within the healthcare setting.
- *Demonstrable understanding of the management responsibility for pay and non-pay resources associated with the clinical service.
- *Experience of being a mentor
- *Demonstration of a significant contribution to innovative practice or change management
