Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your clinical experience? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Mental Health Team as a Bank Enhanced Care Support Worker.

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit Bank Band 3 Enhanced Care Support Workers to work flexibly in a variety of shifts to support our wards and ED departments with delivery of outstanding mental health care and enhanced levels of observation.

Main duties of the job

Our Bank Mental Health Team offers long day or night shifts over flexible days to accommodate a balanced home/work schedule with a range of shifts to suit you.

We are looking for passionate individuals who are able to demonstrate empathy, person-centred care and the ability to cope in challenging situations. Good communication and de-escalation skills are essential.

Knowledge, experience and awareness of mental health conditions/supporting people with behaviours that challenge and therapeutic interventions for the same are required.

You will in return be part of a dynamic, professional and supportive team committed to providing high standards of care and also committed to the on-going training and development of our Bank Enhanced Care Support Workers. You will work under the direction of a specialist mental health practitioner with access to regular individual supervision. Successful candidates will participate in a comprehensive mental health induction to help enhance your skills and knowledge.

You must be physically able to undertake our managing challenging behaviour training, for which you will be paid.

Person Specification

Training & Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3/QCF Level 3 in Health or Social Care or equivalent or working towards.
  • GCSE A*-C in both English Language and Mathematics or equivalent in these two subjects e.g., Certificates in Adult Literacy and Numeracy at Level 2

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Has substantial evidence of experience as a nursing/care assistant in a health or social care setting, either public, private, or voluntary sector
  • Working knowledge of mental health issues
  • Experience of working with people who are experiencing mental health needs, or experience of working with a range of learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, eating disorders

Desirable

  • Good reflective ability and an understanding of its importance in the context of interpersonal working
  • Working knowledge of mental health nursing
  • Knowledge of health and social care issues that impact on mental health and wellbeing

Skills & Ability

Essential

  • Effective communication skills, verbally and written
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Able to complete appropriate documentation accurately
  • Demonstrate an awareness of healthcare work and policies and procedures
