Job summary
To provide an exemplary pharmacy service in accordance with current legislation, accepted professional and ethical standards and clinical requirements. To provide advice and support to consultants, other clinicians and patients ensuring the safe, appropriate and cost effective use of medicines. To advise the hospital and its departments on the safe management of medicines, ensuring compliance with current legislation and professional standards.
Main duties of the job
To be part of a team providing 24 hour medical cover for all routine medical care and response to consultant requests. Immediate first line resuscitation to patients, visitors or staff member as required. To assist in the management of patients and provide back-up support to consultants To liaise with the senior nurse regularly at least every 3-4 hours to check on patient progress, or more frequently if a patient's condition necessitates. Provider of First Aid Lead emergency team - work with as not always beneficial to lead ECG conducting and interpretation PCA and Epidural management Good venepuncture and cannulation skills Good communication and team working skills IV drug preparation and administration Male / Female catherisation Pharmaceutical knowledge Taking Blood and result interpretation Patient cannulation Insertion of Contrast dye for CT & MRI Emergency airway management Assessment and monitoring of patient Use of medical devices e.g. PCA/epidurals Provide pain management in liaison with Consultant

- Graduation from an accredited School of Medicine
- Minimum 2 years post graduation anaesthetic and or ICU experience
- Current ACLS/ALS and EPLS/PALS certification
- Knowledge and understanding of the critically ill patient
- Critical care provider and Management during critical care phase - planned and unplanned
- Provider of First Aid
- Lead emergencies and resuscitation
- IV drug preparation and administration
- Cardiac monitoring / arrhythmia recognition
- Excellent venepuncture and cannulation skills
- Excellent communication and team working skills
Desirable
