Job summary
We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for an innovative, enthusiastic and highly specialist Cardiac Physiologist to Lead our Echocardiography Service at Dorset County Hospital.

We are looking for a highly skilled Cardiac Physiologist to Lead our Echo team as part of a service re-structure. This is an exciting time for the Cardiac Physiology Team as we expand services, develop new working streams, physiologist led services, and an expansion of advanced echo services to include dedicated echo training lists,contrast, bubble and stress echo clinics.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be expected to provide leadership and management to the Echo service both clinically and from a service provision/development perspective. There will be an expectation for you to lead on the delivery of the clinical aspects, support and supervise the training and mentorship of medical and non-medical staff, students and apprentices.
Applicants must have BSE Level 2 TTE accreditation or EACVI Echo accreditations and management/leadership qualifications (or be willing to work towards these).
You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day clinical aspects of the echo service and well as supporting the Cardiac Physiology Manager in the operational demands and development needs of the service. Beyond the clinical duties you will also be responsible for managing the echo staff, develop echo educational programmes, training and competency assessment, SoPs and clinical guidelines, and deputise for the Cardiac Physiology Manager during periods of absence.
About us
We actively support continuing professional development, including apprenticeships, STP and individual BSE accreditation and this role requires oversight on the education and support required for staff to achieve this. There will be opportunities to develop leadership and management skills with in-house courses and support will be given to work towards management/leadership qualifications.
We also encourage and support attendance at relevant educational courses, national and regional network meetings with an expectation for you to represent the cardiac physiology echo team.
Job responsibilities
The successful applicant will be motivated and highly skilled in Echocardiography who is also organised, flexible with a good team working mentality. You will assist the cardiac physiology manager in providing a working team conducive to high quality, patient centred care.
You will be expected to maintain your own professional development with support and encouragement from the department. You are also required to keep up to date with emerging research evidence and current clinical guidelines.
