Job summary

We are looking for a highly performing Care Group Clinical Director to provide strategic leadership to Care group 3 which provides women's and children's services, fertility, sexual health and clinical genetics services. Most services in the care group provide highly specialised tertiary and quaternary level care at a regional and supra regional level as well providing care for the local population for their local health need.

Main duties of the job

A clinical leader with a passion for improving patient care, you will work with your Care Group Leadership Team, Trust's Senior Management Team and other Care Group teams to ensure optimal quality, performance and service delivery for our patients. You will have the opportunity to shape the development of services in your Care Group and the wider Nottinghamshire health and social care system.

Job responsibilities

You will be future focused, leading the development of the Care Group's strategic and annual plans, to lead the delivery of excellent patient care.

You will have accountability for leading quality improvement for the Care Group, encouraging staff contribution to innovation and tracking delivery of efficiency benefits; it's not just about what you do, it's how you do it:

You will have highly developed leadership skills and be able to build successful teams and work collaboratively.

You will be patient focused, sensitive to clinical and political demands with the ability to cut through barriers to change.

You will contribute to providing services within a teaching hospital and support the teaching and research strategy delivery

Person Specification

Training & Qualifications

Essential

  • Clinical professional with current registration
  • Evidence of continuous professional development including evidence of leadership development activities

Desirable

  • Formal clinical leadership or management qualification (e.g.NHS Leadership Academy, FMLM or Kings Fund clinical leadership accreditation or equivalent)
  • Experience of working across organisational boundaries

Experience

Essential

  • Experience at Senior Clinical level for example Consultant, Chief/Director of Profession or equivalent leadership experience
  • A comprehensive understanding of the NHS agenda
  • Previous experience in leading a service or project/large multidisciplinary team

Desirable

  • Experience of working across organisational boundaries

Communication and Relationship Skills

Essential

  • Well-developed leadership skills, inspiring others to collaborate, with clear abilities to form effective working relationships
  • Values and utilises teamwork and has experience of working across boundaries

Desirable

  • Training on interacting with the Media
  • Training on Chairing Meetings.
