Main duties of the job

Post: Casual Catering Assistant (Bank)

Responsible to: Head Chef

Main purpose of job: To work under the direction of the Head Chef to ensure a high quality, customer focussed catering service is delivered to meet the needs of the organisation.

KEY OUTCOMES:

Service Delivery

Serving food at events.

Serving hot and cold drinks.

Setting up for events and clearing up after.

Customer Care

Help to ensure that all customers are satisfied with our service by being friendly and helpful at all times.

Provide a prompt and effective response to customer enquiries and complaints ensuring the Head Cook is informed.

Business Development

To assist with the development of the service through positive participation in any new ideas and also putting forward your own ideas for improving and developing the service.

Team Development

Work co-operatively with other members of the catering team, contributing to effective team working and a good team spirit and similarly across all departments.

To comply with all relevant policies and procedures and taking part in training activities to support the development of yourself and the team.

The Caring Kitchen is the catering service within the Hospice which also offers an external service to raise much needed funds to support the running of the Hospice and the care it provides. The Prince of Wales Hospice provides care to adults with life limiting illness, such as cancer, chronic heart or lung disease, helping people to live as well as possible with their illness and also cares for people at the end of their life.

Joining our bank as a Casual Catering Assistant you will be offered shifts to cover at our catering events, serving meals, drinks and setting up and clearing tables. This could be at the Hospice itself or externally. Flexibility is essential as these shifts will include working on different days of the week, including, evenings, weekends and bank holidays however this does provide an opportunity for a good work life balance.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Helpful and friendly attitude
