Job summary

An opportunity has arisen within the Catering Department at The Freeman Hospital for a part time Catering Assistant to work as a part of our team working in the Freeman Restaurant serving food to staff, visitors and patients, as a part of the team you will also be responsible for the cleanliness of the department in line with food hygiene regulations and trust policies.

Working 5 days over 7 and the shift times you will be working are 07.00 to 15.00 and 11.15 to 19.15

Main duties of the job

  • Working in the Restaurant area of Freeman Hospital.
  • Serving staff meals while following Food Hygiene Regulations and Monitoring Food wastage.
  • Delivering and serving Hospitality Buffets and Drinks.
  • May also work in other retail outlets, as per needs of the service.
  • Working on tills and cashing up.
  • Stocking of food items and rotating stock.
  • General cleaning duties within the department.
  • At all times following food hygiene and trust policy regulations.

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting in the efficient and effective preparation and service of food and beverages to staff and visitors including the associated cleaning and hygiene related duties.

Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate.The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.
