Job summary

We are looking to enhance our team numbers within our Restaurant retail unit as a Pot Washer.

The work involves general catering cleaning duties including, the operation of mechanical industrial type dishwasher machines.

Main duties of the job

The provision of a high quality and professional food and beverage service to all staff, patients, and visitors.

To ensure all Codes of Practice for Health & Safety, Food Safety & Hygiene, COSHH and HACCP are adhered too.

To Carry out Pot Wash duties for the Restaurant, and the restaurant Kitchen.

To safely move trollies with Crockery and Kitchen utensils, this involves manual handling tasks.

Carry out cleaning duties and maintain hygiene levels, to ensure Food Hygiene Legislation and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point procedures are conformed to and maintained

To safely remove of all waste materials to the correct locations, this involves manual handling tasks.

To safely use all catering related equipment and to report any maintenance defects and problems immediately to the estates department.

To monitor levels of waste and report them to the Supervisor.

Operation of the electric transportation vehicles in line with the Trust's policies.

Operation of mechanical industrial type dishwasher machines.

Cleaning of floors/surfaces and machinery as identified in departments cleaning schedule.

Security of all Trust property when on duty, in accordance with Departmental Policy.

To ensure all packaged food is provided with a date illustrating the contents and use by date.

To contribute to the development of the Catering Service by putting forward suggestions for improvements

Any other related tasks as identified by your Line Manager.

Job responsibilities

You will be responsible for providing an efficient pot washing service by operation of mechanical industrial type dishwasher machines, Organising the flow of service and keeping the area and equipment clean and tidy.

You will help with the cleaning of the food trollies and making sure they are stored correctly after emptying.

You will help to prepare the wash area with the necessary equipment, and cleaning supplies.

Full uniform, on the job training and full Trust induction will be given so experience although desired is not essential.

To measure and record all food waste.

To remove waste to the correct location points.

Ensure correct storage, labelling and rotation of chilled produce is followed and relevant temperature monitoring is undertaken.

To maintain a pleasant customer focused manner at all times.

To complete daily schedules, temperature and wastage records and timesheets via app-based software packages.

To complete all online training.

  • Able to undertake the frequent physical duties of the role such a moving laden meal trolleys, carrying trays of food, operation of dishwashing etc

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working in a food production environment
  • Good health & safety practices
  • Awareness of food safety protocols
  • Allergy awareness

Desirable

  • An understanding of different dietary & cultural needs
  • Experience of working in a customer service

Educations, Training and Qualifications

Essential

  • No formal education is required as on the job instruction, training and theoretical knowledge is provided. Therefore the ability to retain information and learning is essential together with excellent communication skills (oral and written)

Desirable

  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or be willing to undertake)
  • NVQ/Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in catering / hospitality / customer service
