Job summary

The East Hampshire & Portsmouth Children's Therapies team is looking for an innovative and proactive Band 3 Children's Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy assistant who would like to develop their clinical skills in this specialist area. If you have excellent organisational, communication and problem solving skills and can quickly gain a good rapport with people from a range of backgrounds, we would like you to be part of our team.

Main duties of the job

You will be working in an integrated Children's therapy service which consists of Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Podiatrists, Therapy Assistants and administration staff. As part of a multi-disciplinary and multiagency team, you will provide services for children with developmental concerns over a wide range of conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophies and learning difficulties. This includes children and young people with severe learning and physical conditions. You will gain experience across various settings including community clinics, special and mainstream schools, preschools and home visits on your own or supporting a therapist. A typical day may consist of a combination of:

*clinical appointments or home visits with children and their families,

*teaching school or nursery staff to carry out interventions

*the running and booking of clinics

*managing equipment orders and requests

*adjusting specialist equipment.

*supporting with hydrotherapy clinics

The successful candidate will be expected to work across the locality of East Hampshire & Portsmouth . The Children's Therapy service in the East Hampshire is based over a number of sites including Battenburg Avenue Clinic in Portsmouth and the brand new Fareham Hub.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ 3 or Health or child-care Related Qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience with working with young people and/or their supporting adults.

Desirable

  • To have a working knowledge of Risk Assessment and management tools.
  • Experience of working within a multi professional team.
  • Experience of working in a Rehabilitation or education setting.
