Clinical Fellow in Geriatric Medicine (4 posts)

Clinical Fellow in General Medicine (4 posts)

Clinical Fellow in Geriatric Medicine with medical on calls (1 post)

The Geriatric Medicine team offers a new Frailty Block with comprehensive inpatient experience.

The General Medicine team also offers comprehensive inpatient experience covering Redbrook Ward (Team 1) and Arrow Ward, medical outliers on Frome, Gilwern, and Women's Health wards (Team 2).

Both specialties provide supervision and support for doctors in training and ACPs based on experience.

All posts are whole-time. However part time/ job share will be considered.

The salary grade for this position is MT03 £49,909 plus allowances.

Main duties of the job

Your duties will be arranged with the Consultant to whom you are responsible and you must discuss and understand these duties as soon as you take up your appointment. Your Consultant has final medical responsibility for all patients under their care and, therefore, any clinical problems beyond your experience or problems causing anxiety should be referred to the Consultant, a more senior member of your team, or in their absence, the appropriate person on duty for them.

Weekend cover will be on a one in four rota for each respective specialty.

One post in Geriatric Medicine will will also contribute to the medical on call rota which will include weekends and nights - currently on a 1 in 15 pattern.

Attainments and Qualifications

Essential

  • Full registration with GMC Licence to Practise
  • 24 months NHS experience as a paid doctor
  • Experience working in general or geriatric medicine

Desirable

  • ALS certificate holder
  • Postgraduate degree of qualification

Presentations and Posters

Desirable

  • Poster or oral presentation at a local, regional or national meeting

Teaching

Essential

  • Experience teaching with formal feedback

Desirable

  • Provided regular teaching
  • Organised a teaching program

Quality Improvement

Essential

  • Involvement in Audit or Quality Improvement

Desirable

  • Leading a QI project
  • Involved in all stages of two cycles of a Quality Improvement project

Dedication to Specialty

Essential

  • Shows interest in General and/or Geriatric Medicine

Desirable
