Job summary
The Children in Care service is jointly commissioned by North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board and Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board. The service operates a countywide model and is responsible for delivering the statutory health requirements as outlined in Promoting the health and well-being of looked after children (2015) and in accordance with the Childrens Act (2004), Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023) and other associated documents.
Main duties of the job
The Children in Care Clinical Lead will be responsible for
Manage an individual clinical caseload
Be able to assess the holistic health and wellbeing needs using a trauma informed approach
Foster effective working relationships with partner agencies in order to promote interagency collaboration, for the benefit of Children in Care
Supervise, support and develop the children in care health team through visible leadership
Ensure that the team along with the Named Nurse and Clinical lead manger are meeting their statutory commissioned responsibilities.
Support continuous service development.

Disclosure and Barring Service:
On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.
The changes mean that:
- youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure
- the multiple conviction rule has been removed, meaning that if an individual has more than one conviction, regardless of offence type or time passed, each conviction will be considered against the remaining rules individually, rather than being automatically disclosed.

Please note the cost of the DBS check is increasing from 2nd December and the new cost will be
Standard DBS check £21.50, Enhanced DBS check £49.50 + any admin costs.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:
Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- oCurrent RGN or equivalent professional registration
- oBSc (Hons) Specialist Community Specialist Practitioner in Public Health -Schooling nursing (BSc Hons) or Health visiting
- oEvidence of Continuous Professional Development
Desirable
- oDual qualification in School Nursing & Health Visiting
- oLeadership/ Management qualification
- oTeaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice or equivalent
- oQualification in Sexual health
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- oHighly developed specialist knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by specialist community nursing/Health Visitor training, experience and community practice teacher training
- oCurrent clinical experience of working with Children in Care.
- oExperience and understanding of working within safeguarding procedures and guidelines
- oUnderstanding of the determinants of health and health inequalities.
- oKnowledge of relevant legislation and guidance such as The Childrens Act (2004), Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023) and Statutory guidance Promoting the health and wellbeing of looked after children (2015) and other relevant documents
- oDemonstrable knowledge of the role of Governance and the application of NICE, BAAF, NHSE guidelines
- oExperience in, leading and supporting staff
