Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy Medical Photography Department at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting time for our department and the future development of our service as we have recently moved to a new hospital with a purpose-built photographic studio.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract for maternity cover, based at The Royal Liverpool Hospital. Cross site working is also required at Broadgreen Hospital in rotational periods
The post holder will need to have a degree in Medical Photography or a degree in Photography plus relevant clinical experience, with excellent organisational skills, a flexible approach, and the ability to work professionally and sympathetically, in a fast-paced environment. You will offer a working knowledge of Photoshop and a thorough understanding of digital technology.
Skills in time management and prioritising workloads are essential, whist supporting the senior photographer.
Main duties of the job
We provide a wide range of medical photographic services working for a variety of specialties such as Tissue Viability, Dermatology, Breast, Orthopaedics, Vascular and Infectious Diseases, working alongside Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and other clinicians from both medical and surgical directorates. The service also contributes to medico - legal services, by providing general photography, and videography for trust wide services.

Job responsibilities
To perform clinical and medical photography (including digital video recording) as listed below, using conventional and digital photographic equipment, associated computer equipment and necessary computer programs:
- Photography of patients, of both gender and all ages, in the studio, in monochrome and in colour, for clinical records, teaching, publication and legal cases; assuming sole charge of patients in their care.
- Photography of patients as above but on location in operating theatres, wards, clinics, accident and emergency and the pathology department including mortuary.
- Perform medical legal photography on behalf of the Trust and prepare police statements if required. Be prepared to give evidence in a professional capability regarding any photography performed by the medical photographic section of the department.
- Photography of medical, surgical and nursing procedures in hospital environments.
- Photography of solicitors clients
- Photography of pathological, surgical and anatomical specimens
- Photography of bacteriological specimens
- Laboratory photography of experimental procedures and equipment.
