Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Midwife to join the team at Leighton Hospital to support the delivery of high quality research - working 22.5 hours per week. This post is specifically to support Midwifery, Women's Health and Neonatal studies and applications are encouraged from those with experience working in this field.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities include providing leadership, management of NIHR Portfolio adopted clinical trials and actively promoting research. The job will involve liaising with Trust based clinicians, universities and other NHS and industry bodies to deliver and embed research into the Maternity unit. Tasks incorporated into the role include the identification of eligible patients, the presentation of trials to potential participants to ensure their appropriate recruitment, safe data management and site organisation. The post holder will utilise their clinical skills and will need good communication and attention to detail as well as having the ability to work autonomously.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be expected to participate fully in their personal development and review process in order to achieve the knowledge and skills identified in the outline for this post making use of all resources available to them and utilising any appropriate development frameworks. Additionally, there will be a requirement for the post holder to work flexibly to meet the needs of the research studies.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Midwife with NMC
- Evidence of relevant Degree
Experience
Essential
- At least 2 years' experience of working in a midwifery role
- Working knowledge of the processes that are required to conduct research (e.g. gaining a favourable ethical opinion, Trust R&D etc)
Skills
Essential
- Well organised and skilled in time management with the ability to meet deadlines and also work with several projects simultaneously
- Good team player and able to motivate oneself and work independently
Desirable
- Understanding of good research management and governance
