Job summary

Due to the continuing growth and expansion of Hobbs specialist neurological services we are looking to recruit new staff to join our existing team and offer career development opportunities within our existing teams across various sites and professions.

We have an opportunity for recruitment into our inpatient, intensive Outpatient and Outpatient Neurological service at Oaksey house, our rehabilitation centre based within the heart of the Injured Jockeys rehabilitation centre in Lambourne.

We provide a patient-led, intensive MDT rehabilitation service to a range of clients with neurological conditions, including spinal cord Injury, stroke, ABI and progressive neurological conditions. At Oaksey we provide a clinically led hands-on Multidisciplinary Rehabilitation service alongside aquatic physiotherapy, conditioning and fitness programmes in a state of the art gym, and use of neurotechnology, to help people recover from illness and injury and achieve their goals. We work with our clients in independent living accommodation focusing on patient-led functional goals.

We are looking to recruit a full-time or part-time Clinical Team Lead for this service. This role will lead the MDT, providing clinical and strategic leadership, liaising with senior management, and supporting the patient journey. The successful applicant will work clinically within the service, so needs to be a qualified neuro-specialist therapist. Salary will be dependent upon experience.

Main duties of the job

  • Work clinically as a highly specialist neurological therapist within your profession, undertaking assessments of potential new admissions, planning treatment, providing expert therapy and discharge planning to a range of clients

  • Provide daily leadership for the Hobbs clinical and administrative team on the ground at Oaksey House, including clinical supervision and line management duties for staff from a range of clinical and non-clinical professions, development and maintenance of close professional working with IJF team and staff.

  • Strategic leadership and management of the service, including patient flow, liaison with our referral partnerships, monitoring of clinical quality and trouble-shooting any issues that arise, working alongside Hobbs Senior Leadership management team to ensure smooth and effective running of the service

  • Support for and involvement in research and development projects across Hobbs in collaboration with the MiNT Academy

In 2005, neuro physiotherapists Helen Hobbs and Nicky Ellis set up Hobbs Rehabilitation and since then it has expanded offering an exceptional level of personalised skill and expertise. Now operating from a number of locations, Hobbs Rehabilitation provides specialist inpatient and outpatient neurological rehabilitation for adults and children across the south of England, treating a wide variety of conditions, including stroke, acquired brain injury and spinal cord injuries. An expert team of over 100 therapists, including OT, PT, SLT and Psychology, provide an interdisciplinary patient-centred neuro rehabilitation service, ensuring the individual is placed at the centre of care.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will work with clients in our inpatient setting predominantly but may have the opportunity to see outpatients as well as community patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical duties:

Assessing patients with acquired physical and cognitive impairments using a range of formal and informal assessments.

Practice safely within the legal and ethical boundaries of the profession.

Formulate patient-centred goals in conjunction with MDT.

Create and provide one-to-one intervention to patients with acquired physical and cognitive impairments, using a comprehensive knowledge of evidence-informed practice and treatment options.

Evaluate patients progress using published outcome measures.

Liaising regularly with the Hobbs MDT and wider care team.

Organise and plan the MDT therapy caseload at Oaksey House rehab unit in conjunction with other clinical team members to meet the patients and service needs, readjusting plans as situations change or arise.

Maintain up-to-date and accurate clinical notes using site-specific software and local procedures.

Write high-quality patient reports, including MDT discharge reports for inpatients.

Attend and contribute to patient and family meetings, both face-to-face and via video.

Team Lead duties:

  • Provide daily leadership for the clinical and administrative team on the ground at Oaksey house, including close professional working with care staff

  • Strategic leadership and management of the service, including patient flow, liaison with our NHS and care home partners, monitoring of clinical quality and trouble-shooting any issues that arise, working alongside Hobbs senior management team to ensure smooth and effective running of the service, and continued service development

  • Analysis of service effectiveness, efficiency and achievement of Hobbs business-related goals to ensure that the service remains clinically excellent and productive, linking this information up to senior management through regular operational meetings

  • Clinical supervision and line management duties for staff from a range of clinical and non-clinical professions

  • Support for and involvement in research and development projects across Hobbs in collaboration with the MiNT Academy

  • Promote and maintain collaborative partnerships with our clinical partners including IJF, RFU- IPF, BEST and H4H.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team -
  • Experience of working with patients with a range of neurological impairments essentially Spinal cord injury -
  • Experience of supervising and line-managing other staff -
  • Experience of working in a leadership role -
  • Experience of managing complex situations and dealing with conflict - Experience of working with a range of stakeholders e.g. NHS, case managers, solicitors

Desirable

  • Experience of being involved in research and service development projects

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised degree qualification in relevant neurological rehab clinical specialism (e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Neuropsychology)

Desirable

  • Evidence of further specialist post-graduate study within the field of neurological rehab
