Job summary

We are looking for a Registered Adult Nurse to work within our Medical Education Team.

This is a varied and rewarding role, support our medical students and foundation doctors to improve their competency in clinical skills and offering further support to those who require it.

This role is based on the Colchester site, but make require travel to the Ipswich site for planned team meetings or events.

Main duties of the job

  • Delivery of clinical skills teaching and supervision of medical students following Trust and Clinical School guidelines in the Clinical skills room using simulation.
  • Accompanying students in the clinical area to undertake directly supervised clinical skills practice ensuring safe and correct practice
  • To teach a range of clinical skills and practical procedures to undergraduate medical students as part of the undergraduate medical curriculum

Job responsibilities

  • Contribute to the implementation and development of undergraduate and post graduate medical education Trust wide
  • To teach practical clinical skills to the medical students within the education centre. With the future aim to be working with medical students at the bedside
  • To support international medical graduates and foundation doctors with their clinical skills and training
  • Report and advise the medical education facilitator of any areas of concern as identified by self, learners, tutors or other staff groups
  • Act as a clinical and professional role model and develops and maintains own credibility through the demonstration of consistent high standards of clinical care

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in an education environment
  • At least two years post registration experience

Desirable

  • Ability to undertake cannulation, venepuncture and catheterisation

Qualifications

Essential

  • Adult Registered Nurse with current registration

Desirable

  • ENB998 or equivalent teaching qualification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of Professional Development
  • Evidence of communication Skills at all levels
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
