Main duties of the job
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Community Ambulance Responder to join our team. The successful candidate will work as a solo responder on a dedicated response vehicle, providing emergency care in response to 999 calls. You will be responsible for delivering immediate patient care, managing emergency situations all while adhering to the service's policies, procedures, and strategies for patient care.
The expectation is that you will be available in the local community to be on-call for one 24 hour period every 6 days to respond to emergency incidents during that period.
Full training will be provided.

About us
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Skills / competencies
Essential
- oHold a valid EU Driving License (No more than 3 endorsement points. In exceptional circumstances a maximum of 6 points may be considered)
- oAbility to prioritise workload
- oAbility to work in a demanding and pressurised environment
- oEffective interpersonal skills including written, verbal and listening.
- oExperience of using initiative in an unsupervised environment.
- oAble to work effectively and appreciate the importance of teamwork.
- oExperience of problem solving in a work environment.
- oUnderstanding of wider NHS objectives and those relating to the Ambulance Service
Qualification and knowledge
Essential
- oMinimum of 3 GCSEs (or equivalent levels) at grade C or above one must be either English, Maths or Science related or experience in a healthcare setting.
