Job summary
The Multi-disciplinary team within Dudley create a supportive environment for parents and carers, ensuring that they remain central to the Healthy Child Programme delivery process.
We are seeking to offer an opportunity to education, social care or health practitioners who can demonstrate their abilities and expertise in working collaboratively with families and can confidently track a child's development through thorough observations, reporting these back to both families and a range of professionals.Applicants should possess a solid understanding and practical experience of supporting young children with physical, health or developmental.
We are interested to hear from applicants who can work well as a part of a team but can also work alone when necessary. You should have the ability to communicate with a variety of professionals and should be able to communicate information sensitively and effectively to parents and carers to build trusting relationships and provide support. The Community Nursery Nurse will have support through competency, education and career framework to support you in your development within this role.
The successful applicants will have experience of delivering education, social care or health services and like us will have a focus on listening to the voice of young children and their families.

Main duties of the job
- To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, in the assessment, treatment and support of children with special needs and their families, providing a safe, stimulating environment in a variety of locations.
- In some areas of work, the post holder is required to work under the direction of, but unsupervised by professionals.
- The post holder will work in a variety of locations - home, school, nurseries and family hubs.
- The post holder will work with children with a range of additional needs/ learning disabilities.
- The post holder will need to adapt practices to meet individual patients' circumstances e.g. cultural/linguistic practices.
- Providing feedback to the Health Visitor when concerns have been identified during contacts with families.
- Participating in the Healthy Child programme under direction of the Health Visitor.
- Supporting in the running of clinics, running targeted support groups, facilitating developmental reviews and growth monitoring as required.
- Independently carry out developmental reviews in the clinic or home setting: assessing cognitive and language development, hearing, vision fine and gross motor skills, emotional and social development.
- Providing appropriate health promotion, parenting advice and childcare advice to parents and carers when necessary.
- Referring to other agencies such as Speech and Language Therapists, Early support, Audiologist and other child development specialists.

Qualifications
Essential
- National Nursery Examination Board (NNEB) Diploma in Nursery Nursing or Level 3 BTEC/CACHE in Child Care & Education (Early Years) or an equivalent qualification.
- Evidence of continued professional development and knowledge of public health issues
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with children/young people and families
- Experience in enabling parents/carers/professionals to carry out tasks
- Experience in carrying out routine intervention on one to one, small group, large groups.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Knowledge of child development
- Understanding, Knowledge and skills of behaviour support and management
