Job summary
Come and work with our welcoming Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department at York Hospital. Opportunities have arisen for a Consultant Hepatologist to join our teams at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The Trust is keen to attract individuals looking to develop a portfolio career of their choosing, with flexible job plans to accommodate varied skill sets and working patterns. The job has no mandatory commitments to the General Medicine on-call service.
Main duties of the job
This role includes hepatology outpatient clinics, engagement with the hepatology MDT and elective endoscopy. The on-call commitment includes inpatient management of general Gastroenterology patients and out-of-hours GI bleed cover.
The Trust is extremely proud of our exceptional hepatology service. We have recently been awarded Level 2 IQILS accreditation in recognition of the high-quality liver service provided.
We run a full MDT service supported by a team of clinical nurse specialists as well as medical colleagues. We have strong links with Leeds Liver Transplantation Service.
Our 7-room endoscopy unit opened on the York site in September 2019 and offers exciting opportunities for the development of advanced and subspecialist endoscopic modalities, such as EUS. It will be one of the UK's biggest and most advanced units of its kind with a dedicated ERCP room and with the infrastructure to develop a suite of training courses. There are also highly supported opportunities for clinical research and to undertake teaching of undergraduate students as part of the Hull and York Medical School.

Job Plans are open to discussion and negotiation. Candidates must have a higher medical qualification (MRCP or equivalent) and be on the GMC Specialist Register for G(I)M and Gastroenterology or be within twelve months of obtaining the CCT at the time of the interview. Your clinical skills and expertise will be of a high standard covering Hepatology. If desired there is a voluntary limited option to cover General Internal Medicine. A familiarity with issues of service organisation and development would be particularly advantageous.

Essential
- MRCP or equivalent qualification
- Full GMC registration with license to practice.
- Medical Degree
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or CESR
