About us

Care in Mind provide residential services for young people aged 16-30 years old. The young people we care for often require a high level of support to assist with difficulties they may have from self-harming, behaviour, and emotional difficulties. Our aim is to support the young people using a therapeutic approach to help them achieve their individual goals, in preparation for transition to adult life.

Are you a Consultant Psychiatrist who wants to work in a system where change is possible, where you can make an imprint and work dynamically in a highly reflective MDT? Are you a Consultant Psychiatrist who is interested in young people, their physical and psychological wellbeing and want to support them into a better future? Are you a Consultant Psychiatrist who wants to do things differently when caring for your patients? We are looking for a dynamic, thoughtful, research orientated individual, who thrives working within a team, able to manage medication, physical health care and risk, within a formulation-based MDT.

Job responsibilities

Care In Minds working ethos centres on collaboration, and you will therefore be working closely with the Lead Consultant managing a shared caseload of 40-55 young people between the ages of16-30. You will have an interest in psychological thinking but have a strong base in psychiatric medical management to support the complexity of presentations and levels of risk. This work is fully supported by a highly skilled MDT with Nurse and Psychology long term input, as well as a strong residential team. The Service is spread out across the North West and Yorkshire, however driving is kept to one area/day. Therefore must be a driver with access to a vehicle.

The role of the Consultant Psychiatrist in the team is to provide strong leadership and support in clinical care and risk management and to offer psychopharmacological management where needed. There are also opportunities for research and service development for our Consultants in what is a fast growing, innovative and exciting environment in which to work.

The Consultant Psychiatrist needs a CCT (CAMHS/GA/Medical Psychotherapy/Forensic) or equivalent to apply for this position, with Eating Disorder or Liaison Endorsement/experience as desirable. Regulatory requirements must also be met such as GMC registration and revalidation.

Care In Mind prides itself for supporting clinical staff in life-long learning and teaching opportunities relevant in the field, and supports a wide range of learning opportunities, especially in the field of Eating Disorders, Complex PTSD and EUPD. There are ample opportunities for thoughtful system change, allowing for research opportunities and further developments across the service and NHS sectors you will be working in.

Care in Mind provides residential services for young people aged 16-30 years old who have been discharged from psychiatric inpatient stays or may have experienced previous admissions and/or placement breakdowns. The young people we care for often require a high level of support and dynamic approach to risk management in order to support problems they may have with self-harming, behaviour and emotional regulation.

Our aim is to support the young people using a therapeutic, least restrictive approach to live in a non-secure community setting and to achieve their individual goals in preparation for transition to adult life. We currently provide 10 residential homes that cover the North of England and are expanding further in the next year.
