Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Gastro Intestinal (GI) Radiolog y
Applicants are invited to apply for the Consultant Radiologist post with a specialised interest in Gastro Intestinal Radiology.
The Imaging Department is currently based at two sites, Ashford Hospital and St Peters Hospital Chertsey. The modalities include general radiography, fluoroscopy, CT, ultrasound, mammography, Intervention. The MRI service is currently provided by Alliance Medical.
The successful applicant will join a team of nineteen friendly and enthusiastic general radiologists and will have a close working relationship with the Consultant Colorectal Surgeons and specialist nurses .
There is a large lower GI rectal team and a dedicated inflammatory bowel team in the Trust as well as a joint upper GI link with Royal Surrey Country Hospital and Frimley Health. There are various MDTs in the Trust which the applicant would attend such as the benign GI, colorectal and IBD.
The opportunity to report from home has been implemented and this allows more flexibility in job plans and aids work life balance.
Applicants are required to be fully registered and must be on the GMC's Specialist Register, or be eligible for admission to the Register within six months from the date of interview for the post.

Main duties of the job
Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Gastro Intestinal Imaging
- Deliver Clinical, Educational, Managerial Services of the highest professional standard at Consultant Level to the Department
- Work with existing consultants and the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high quality well-led service for patients of Ashford & St Peter's, including the diagnosis, investigations, treatment and management of patients, in accordance with Trust policies and practices.
- Deliver Direct Clinical Care to patients, through all parts of the Department assisting clinical decision-making and sharing equally in the workload.
- Be expected to participate in the Consultant evening and weekend rota on a 1:12 basis.
- Engage fully with the care of patients outside the department and provide a prompt opinion on request from consultant colleagues in other specialties.
- Engage with medical, nursing, management and all relevant co-workers in the delivery of department objectives: to provide clinical leadership, improve the patient experience; ensure the highest quality clinical care.
- Participate in the professional training of the staff in the department, both medical and non-medical, and contribute as required to teaching sessions for other hospital staff as well as undergraduate and postgraduate staff, including supervision of junior medical staff. Teaching and training will require verification of teaching certification

- The Consultant team will provide comprehensive senior clinical cover to the Department.
- Be expected to share equally in the workload of the department
- A special interest in GI radiology is expected, but there will be the opportunity to pursue and develop further areas of special interest in line with departmental and Trust strategy
- Be expected to participate in the Consultant evening and weekend rota on a 1:12 basis. The frequency may be reviewed at a later date.
- Have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, ensuring safe handover as appropriate.
- Engage fully with the care of patients outside the department and provide a prompt opinion on request from consultant colleagues in other specialties.
- Engage with medical, nursing, management and all relevant co-workers in the delivery of department objectives: to provide clinical leadership, improve the patient experience; ensure the highest quality clinical care.
- Actively participate in and support other staff with education, research, audit and clinical governance activities involving a multi-disciplinary workforce across the department
- Participate in the professional training of the staff in the department, both medical and non-medical, and contribute as required to teaching sessions for other hospital staff as well as undergraduate and postgraduate staff, including supervision of junior medical staff. Teaching and training will require verification of teaching certification
- Support recruitment, appraisal, development and mentoring activities to a multi-disciplinary, multi-professional team.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate for a consultant.
LEARNING, DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH

Qualifications
Essential
- oCertificate of Completion of Specialist Training (or CCT) by the time of taking up the post or be accredited for inclusion on the General Medical Council's Specialist Register.
