Job summary

Applications are invited for a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post is offered at 6PAs.

We are keen to appointenthusiastic, dynamic, and motivated consultants to our forward-thinking team that prides itselfon providing high quality respiratory care across a comprehensive range of respiratory services.

The Trust is one of a small number of hospitals nationally confirmed to be in an early phase of the national New Hospital Build Programme. This will result in the acute hospital on the Leighton site being completely rebuilt and operational by 2031, providing fantastic opportunities for development and transformation of elective and acute surgical services at MCHFT.

The successful applicant must have full registration with the GMC and continue to hold aLicence to Practise. The applicant must also be on the Specialist Register or be within sixmonths of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training in Respiratoty Medicine.

Main duties of the job

It is expected that the post holder will contribute to the leadership, delivery, and developmentof our future Respiratory services at Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation Trust (MCHFT) aswell as the exciting New Hospital Program that is in development at the current LeightonHospital site.There is an opportunity to develop, progress and deliver sub-specialty services for RespiratoryMedicine in all these areas:

o Respiratory Physician specialising in Pulmonary Oncologyo Interstitial Lung Diseaseo Sleep and Ventilationo Tuberculosis and Complex infectionso Severe Asthma and Airways Disease

Job responsibilities

The post is offered at 6 PA.The post holder will be expected to undertake 4.5 programmed activities (PAs) of Direct ClinicalCare and 1.5 programmed activities (PAs) of Supporting Professional Activity per week.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR or European Community Rights
  • MB ChB/MBBS or equivalent

Desirable

  • Other postgraduate qualification e.g. MD, PhD

Experince

Essential

  • Extensive experience in Acute / Respiratory Medicine including bronchoscopy and the ability to undertake endobronchial biopsies

Desirable

  • Trained in EBUS
  • Trained in thoracic ultrasound to level 2 standard
  • Experience of running a respiratory sleep service

Ability

Essential

  • Recognised ability to work within, and provide leadership to, the multidisciplinary team

  • Experience and interest in teaching both junior medical and non-medical staff

  • Membership of Society of Acute Medicine

Desirable

  • Evidence to allow accreditation as a Consultant Educational Supervisor for trainee doctors with the GMC

Other
