Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self- motivated individual to join the Transport team at the Worcestershire Acute NHS Foundation Trust, as a driver for our busy transport department.
The role will involve driving the many trust vehicles in our transport fleet to provide the service to our hospitals & other NHS organisations throughout Worcestershire & Birmingham. Our fleet consists of 13 vehicles which include one 3.5 ton box van. A full detailed training programme will be assigned to the post holder. Main duties of the job
The post holder will form part of a team within the transport department driving competently and safely one of our fleet of vehicles. Responsible for daily safety checks on vehicles and that the vehicle is kept in a clean and tidy condition. Accountable to portering Co-ordinator & transport supervisor for allocation of jobs. Be required to complete daily vehicle log sheets, journey forms, defect reports. Required to work across our 3 hospital site in exceptional circumstances.

Job responsibilities
Main responsibilities of the role is to deliver & collect items from our hospitals within the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust & other NHS organisations in the Worcestershire & Birmingham areas. To transport patient sensitive data (Notes). Specimens whilst adhering to legislation. Internal & external post. Movement of expensive hospital equipment. Delivery & collection of time critical pharmacy products. Transporting theatre instruments between our hospital sites.

Qualifications
Essential
- Requires a professional and sympathetic approach to people. Have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Is able to accept criticism and learn from it. To work within and be part of the team & carry out tasks independently. To have excellent Verbal, thinking & reasoning skills. Have a good understanding of Health & Safety. Have basic computer knowledge to complete online Learning.
- To have held a full UK driving licence with 5yrs experience.
Desirable
- Confident in driving commercial vehicles up to 3.5T
