Job summary
The Participation Worker will work with children/young people, and their families/carers, who have used NHFT services. The participation worker will support the recruitment and training of young people and carers to prepare them for co-production activity. They will design, coordinate and report meaningful participation and coproduction activities with young people and families, ensuring their voices influence NHFT service development.
The Children's Participation and Co-Production Team coordinate all co-production activity for NHFT's Children's Services including Universal Services, Physical Health Services, Therapy Services and Mental Health Services and iDiscover. Every child in the Northamptonshire has access to our services and we are committed to ensure that the Participation and Co-Production Team represent the inclusive population. The team works closely with healthcare services and practitioners to recruit service users and embed their lived experience into service design. The Participation Worker supports Young People and adult supporters with lived experience to co-produce resources and courses for iDiscover. Main duties of the job
- Face to face and remote working with children, young people, parents/carers, education colleagues and NHFT Healthcare practitioners; the participation worker will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to utilise them to communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary and team based working environment.
- Use of database and production of reports to reflect co-production activity; the Participation Worker will be IT literate with ability to use electronic systems, spreadsheets/databases and produce reports and statistics.
- Supporting young people to participate in recruitment activity; delivery of training, coordinating invitations and attendance for interview panels.
- Coordinate a varied workload; the Participation Worker will facilitate co-production and expert by experience groups, support recruitment activity, promote sign up to the Participation Network; work 1:1 with Young People/families to collect patient stories.
- Sensitive and empathetically work with young people that have experienced difficult experiences.
- Advocate for the voice of young people and children.
- Develop expertise in co-production.
- Creatively plan and co-facilitate the Youth Advisory Board.

Job responsibilities
This crucial role includes the facilitation of various Participation Groups, and consolidation of feedback received from our service users and their families/carers; providing this in a way that will assist services in the development of a service-user and carer informed service.
The successful candidate will be supported and managed by the Participation Lead, whom they will work closely with to embed and develop the Participation agenda across Services, with co-production at the heart of all Service re-design.
This varied role will involve working with Clinical and non-Clinical staff across all Services, therefore excellent communication skills at different levels are integral.
Including Service Users in our Recruitment and Interview process is important to us. An essential part of this role will also be to work with Recruiting Managers across all CYP Services to embed and facilitate Service User involvement in this process.
This successful candidate will be expected to cover appropriate elements of the Quality Assurance Team tasks to ensure business continuity.
