Job summary
An exciting opportunity to join a busy Charity Finance Team and be an integral part of a high-quality Financial Services Function has arisen.
Reporting to the Charities Accountant the post holder will be a key member of the Charity Finance Team, responsible for producing the Statement of Financial Position and Activities and cash flow and overseeing legacy administration.
Essential skills include a desire to support the Charity with positive can-do attitude and a passion for giving back, being responsible for providing financial support to the Charity Finance Team, managing your own workload and providing complex charitable information as required.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will support and assist in producing the Statement of Financial Position and Activities and, cash flow on a monthly basis and contribute to the coordination and the production of the Annual accounts and the completion of the consolidation of the Charity Accounts into the Trust's Annual Accounts.
- Lead in the production of the Finance Report for the Charitable Funds Committee .
- Oversee the co-ordination and planning of Legacy Administration.
- Lead the development of that Annual Planning cycle.
- Be a point of contact for the Finance Department and all fund advisors discussing and advising on often complex queries.
- Support the Charities Accountant and the Charity Fundraising Team in the preparation of the annual budget and then throughout the year with respect to forecasts, income and expenditure.
- Maintain and develop controls ensuring all expenditure charged to the Charity is appropriate.
- Contribute to the annual review of the Charitable Funds Guide suggesting amendments for ratification by the Charity Trustee.
- Provide line management to the Senior Charities Finance Officer, ensuring appropriate appraisal, supervision and objective setting.

Qualifications
Essential
- oProfessional Accountancy qualification (CCAB, CIMA) with current membership registration.
- oDemonstrable post qualification development and achievement of CPD.
Knowledge
Essential
- Specialist knowledge of charity finance.
- Understanding of the NHS and the Trust Financial Regime.
- Knowledge of Financial Systems.
- Knowledge of relevant accounting standards and other guidance and legislation.
Desirable
- Understanding of Legacy Law.
- Experience of working in an NHS Charity or other Charity Finance Team.
- Knowledge of the Charity SORP /FRS 102
Training and Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable experience of working at a senior level within a charity finance function.
- Extensive experience of Financial Accounting in a large organisation
- Demonstrable experience of working with a computerised accounting package.
- Staff management experience
- Commitment to own personal development and that of the Team.
- Knowledge and experience of all applications found in "Microsoft Office.
Desirable
- Experience of working within an NHS finance department.
