We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Mental Health Lead to join our Primary Care team at HMP Highpoint, a Category C men's prison, located in the village of Stradishall in Suffolk, England.

Highpoint Prison offers free parking and free use of an on-site large gym Can offer nurse prescribing for career development Working in an unique setting, working alongside the prison where they have really good working relationships, and also going through the development of a new site/new build to expand capacity so an exciting time to join.

Hours

37.5 hours a week mainly working Monday to Friday 8-4 or 8.30-4.30pm with some weekend cover when required.

Salary

Youll receive an annual salary up to £46,420 per annum - depending on experience

Main duties of the job

As a Deputy Mental Health Lead (Senior Nurse), your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options.
  • Managing a team of around 5 or 6 Mental Health Nurses, LD Nurse and a TNA
  • You will undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed.
  • You will assess patients health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge.
  • You will ensure that you assess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission to the prison and throughout their period of custody so that any appropriate referral can be made.
  • You will also be responsible for making a clinical judgement with regard to any immediate need and long term treatment.

Qualifications required
  • You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing.
  • Must have strong leadership experience and team management
  • Current professional qualification (NMC) Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Youll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
