This is an exciting opportunity to support the development and delivery of the newly implemented Community Diagnostics service currently carried out at the Bracknell and West Berkshire sites.

Join our Clinical Administration Team (CAT) 11 as a full-time Band 5 Deputy Patient Pathway Manager (DPPM) at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trusts (RBFT). CAT 11 covers Respiratory, Cardiology and Stroke departments, and provides a first class, efficient, pro-active and patient focused service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and organised individual to provide specialist support to the Cardiology, Respiratory & Stroke teams. You will have the ability and confidence to build relationships within an admin team in a fast paced environment and have excellent IT skills, be comfortable communicating with patients and colleagues at all levels and work quickly and accurately under pressure.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the management of the patient pathway ensuring the provision of a systematic, efficient and confident service.

You will be able to identify and implement service improvements, to reduce process delays and enhance the patient's experience.

The successful applicant will have the ability to communicate well with all levels of staff and be able to demonstrate experience of working under pressure and to tight timescales.

Job responsibilities

To support the Service Manager and Directorate Senior Management Team (Clinical Lead, Matron, and Directorate Manager) in the efficient and effective operational management of your respective service/s in order to deliver continually improving, high quality patient care.

To provide support and expert knowledge to the team of patient pathway coordinators and associated roles within the admin team.

Delegated responsibilities for a range of operational activities (in the absence of the PPM), working autonomously using initiative and their specialist knowledge and experience of the service to make decisions.

Assist with the delivery of the daily operational business of the designated service area as well as contributing to the development and implementation of strategic plans.

To assist with overseeing all administrative and clerical processes to enable a high quality, effective, patient-focused service to be delivered.

To ensure that standard operating procedures are followed, to help ensure the achievement of all performance targets.

In the absence of the Patient Pathway Manager, the Deputy Patient Pathway Manager will be responsible for providing regular updates on performance and the escalation of issues which hinder the delivery of a smooth patient pathway to the Directorate Manager.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to A-level, or NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration/Customer Care or acquired equivalent experience
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths, grades A-C

Desirable

  • Educated to degree or equivalent experience/qualification
  • Management qualification or business qualification or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential

  • Supervisory experience of administrative staff
  • Data quality management
  • Knowledge of CAT patient pathways

Desirable

  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential

  • Advanced use of EPR with the ability to interrogate the system
