Job summary

Band 6 - Deputy Ward Manager

To provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring the planning delivery and evaluation of individualised care.

Responsible for monitoring the workload/patient acuity within the ward/unit on a daily basis to ensure that nursing manpower is adequate to provide a safe standard of nursing care.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced, enthusiastic nurse with a keen interest in Cardiology. You will be an organised nurse who is a role model and leads by example, whilst helping to provide the gold standard of care, our patients come to expect from us.

An exciting development opportunity has arisen with the Division of Specialist Medicine for an experienced Registered nurse to become a Deputy Ward Nurse Manager on Ward 6A Acute Medical Cardiology.

Job responsibilities

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programs of evidence based care for medical patients.

Provide management and organisation of a clinical area in the presence and absence of the ward manager.

Participate in the development, line management and education of other staff members.

Participate in improvement of services and the quality of care provision.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
  • Post registration qualification in speciality

Desirable

  • 1st level degree
  • Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent
