Job summary
To provide support to the Nursing team. To ensure the maintenance of high standards of patient care in response to service needs.
Participate in the assessment of patients prior to dialysis and the correctly carrying out dialysis as prescribed, and other and ongoing treatment.
Be responsible for maintaining dialysis supplies and the ordering of patient transport.
To develop own skills/competencies to support the patient and dialysis team. To contribute to the teaching of patients and other new staff in dialysis techniques depending on the post holder achieving the required competencies.
To take on additional areas of responsibility as discussed and agreed during appraisal process.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to expand their skills as you will be learning how to deliver haemodialysis to our outpatients on the dialysis unit at Maidstone Renal Unit. This post is for 37.5 hours a week .
Our shifts are Early (07:00-15:00) and Late (11:00-19:00). Long Days (07:00-19:00) Monday to Saturday over a roster pattern. No night shifts involved apart from working on Twilight which is (11:00-23:00).
We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn, have a kind and caring attitude towards patients and colleagues and can be a positive team member. Within this role you will be looking after patients who have a chronic condition who attend haemodialysis treatment three times a week.
We will provide the in-house training you require to safely carry out your role in dialysis which includes specific dialysis training and further development opportunities within your role. You will have a Band 5 and Band 3 or 4 as a mentor while you are training to the unit and support your learning.
The main duties of this role include providing haemodialysis care to renal in and out-patients on a daily basis including fluid management, recording observations, daily weights intravenous medication, pressure sore prevention, vascular access care and diabetes management.

- Good standard of general education
- English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent.

- NVQ 2 Care certificate completed.

- Previous full-time employment for at least a year.
