Main duties of the job

This is a role which will be key to the Trust's role as leader and influencer in South East London and to achieving Essentia's strategic ambitions. The role is a critical post playing a leading role in the delivery of a world class Estate. The role will ensure that proposed investment in the Estate supports the delivery of GSTT 2030 vision, mission and beyond. The role will have specific remit to lead the teams responsible for Estate Strategy, Property and Asset Management across the portfolio.

Job responsibilities

The postholder:

  • Directs the strategy and property functions, holding accountability for the strategic planning, governance, outline design then smooth handover to the delivery team so that healthcare facilities meet the clinical needs of the Trust.
  • Directs the development and implementation plan for GSTT Estate Strategy having regard for clinical priorities.
  • Direct the team and self by example modelling the Trust values and behaviours, ensuring that equality, diversity and inclusion objectives of the trust are championed, supported and implemented.
  • Direct the team to manage the development and implementation of Estates property, space management strategies and policies.
  • Direct all aspects of property, asset and space management requirements of the Trust.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director, Capital Projects to ensure that proposals are deliverable and achievable to time, budget to deliver the clinical outcomes outlined in governance.
  • Builds high quality strategic relationships with clinical and operational service leads, to ensure consistency of approach and to ensure critical interdependency risks are transparent and managed;
  • Direct the development, implementation and evaluation of the Trusts integrated short, medium and long-term property and space strategy, ensuring the most beneficial approach is taken to owning and using the Trusts property portfolio, to ensure it makes the optimum contribution to the objectives, ambitions and goals of the Trust. The aim is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the estate, rationalising property where appropriate and optimising the use and value of the assets.
  • Oversees the team to ensure engagement with strategic stakeholders within the Trust and externally, acting as an ambassador for the Trust and the Essentia executive team, and providing highly specialist advice in critical areas where expert opinion differs.
  • Manages positive commercial relationships with tenant organisations and landlords, and good relationships with neighbouring developments and local councils, influencing and negotiating on the delivery of services, dealing regularly with and resolving hostile and antagonistic situations.
