Job summary
Stanton Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a dispensary manager to work alongside our clinical services and operations/HR managers. We were one of the first dispensaries in the country to switch to using EPS rather than paper prescriptions, using Invatech's TITAN software. All dispensing processes are computerised, including our controlled drugs register for which we use software which links to TITAN to ensure no entries are missed. We have a BD Rowa dispensing robot with an automated 24 hour collection point to ensure the fast and smoothest possible service for patients.
Main duties of the job
- Managing the dispensary staff.
- Attendance at, and input to, partners and team meetings as appropriate.
- Monthly checking the drug tariff for price and category changes, checking for new or discontinued drugs.
- In association with the nominated partner, maintain and update the computerised Drug Directory, adding new drugs and monitoring patient repeats.
- Liaise with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) medicines management team in relation to prescribing incentive scheme or dispensary issues.
- Sorting prescriptions, checking endorsements, preparing forms and submitting prescriptions monthly to the Prescription Pricing Authority (PPA); preparing vaccine list; dealing with prescriptions returned by the PPA.
- Management of TITAN computer system and ongoing training and support for team.
About us
We are a rural dispensing and training practice located in the village of Stanton, set in the beautiful Suffolk countryside close to Bury St Edmunds. We serve a stable population of approximately 5300 patients.We work in modern purpose-built premises, which have recently been extended and provide a bright and airy setting in which to work. Our clinical system is SystmOne.We are rated GOOD across all areas by CQC.
We have a team of three nurses, and work closely with our PCN colleagues who visit the surgery weekly, such as a social prescriber, mental health link worker, primary mental health worker and physiotherapist. We are part of Blackbourne PCN which consists of four rural practices. A diabetes nurse specialist also visits monthly and holds a clinic at the practice. We have also recently recruited two urgent care practitioners.Our reception and administrative teams provide excellent support to our clinical teams.

Qualifications
Essential
- You will have at least a Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification
Experience
Essential
- At least 2 years dispensary and pharmacy experience
- Excellent clinical and medication knowledge
- Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting
- The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making
- The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach
- Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills.
