Job summary

A self-motivated and enthusiastic electrically qualified individual required to join an established team involved in the maintenance of services in both new and existing properties, must be capable of working to a high standard with a minimum of supervision.

This position requires a flexible can-do attitude which should include knowledge and experience of other building maintenance skills. Good fault finding and problems solving skills are essential and you will expected to use BMES, O&MS and appropriate test equipment whilst working to manufactures recommendations. Applicants must be prepared to undertake further training as and when required by the Trust.

Participation in the on-call rota system is a requirement for the post for which there is an additional weekly payment after a qualifying period. Working hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 16:00 with an on-call rota which is approximately 1:6

Main duties of the job

As part of the estates team you will be maintaining a wide variety of plant and equipment, including LV distribution systems, generator sets, fire alarms, nurse call systems, and lighting within hospitals, health centres, clinics and other premises used by the Trust throughout Worcestershire.

The ideal candidate must be able to work on their own initiative, to organise and manage their own workload, drive through requests to a satisfactory conclusion and recognise the need to maintain the Trust properties to a high standard within budgetary constraints to meet all statutory inspections and testing. Duties will cover mainly electrical services with the inclusion of some other mechanical services as necessary. Multi skill tasks may include steam/gas heating, legionella control to meet HTM04 and L8 requirements, plumbing and drainage systems repairs and other mechanical services and equipment. Doors windows, and locks ETC. During out of hours when the tradesperson is on call they will be required to make safe or secure and/or carry out a temporary repair across the infrastructure of the Estate.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate must have completed a relevant trade apprenticeship and/or a nationally recognised electrical qualification.

You will need to be familiar with the safe use and care of IT equipment such as computers and smart phones and be able to source and share and record information in written, verbal and digital formats. Computer literacy is essential as work will be issued on CAFM software via a smart phone as part of the Trusts mobile working approach, with a requirement to use emails as well the internet to order spares online and sourcing information as required. Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Multi-skilled
  • Serving of a recognised apprenticeship or other approved training and experience
  • Experience in all types of electrical installation work
  • Wide experience of electrical maintenance work, including fault finding

Desirable

  • To be able to work on complex electrical circuits

Qualifications

Essential

  • City and Guilds 232 Part 2 or equivalent
  • Latest edition of the IEE Regulations
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.

Desirable

  • Additional electrical qualifications such as portable appliance testing and approved person experience

Additional Criteria

Essential

  • Able to meet the travel requirements of the role.
  • You understand that we will not provide sponsorship to work for this role

Knowledge

  • Hold current 18th Edition Qualification

Desirable

  • Able to work on both electrical and mechanical plant
