An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Endoscopy Booking Office team at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
You will be one of a small team of administrative booking officers, who will provide essential administrative functions, whilst interfacing with clinical and administrative staff, patients and the general public. Primarily providing administrative service to the Endoscopy Unit to support effective service delivery.
The Service supports many departments and Directorates throughout the Trust and you would be expected to carry-out a variety of administrative tasks to allow you to support clinical, nursing and administrative teams.
The Endoscopy Unit consists of Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Nurses, HCAs and administrative booking officers and receptionists. The Endoscopy Booking role consists of Outpatient Scheduling, working towards waiting-list targets, liaising with patients and relatives over the telephone and booking patients in via our administration system.
Main duties of the job
Main duties are to undertake clerical and admin duties, supporting the provision of an efficient and effective booking service to the Endoscopy Unit.
You will be accountable for providing an administrative service to the Endoscopy Booking Unit and to support effective service delivery. You will liaise with MDT to ensure effective communication is maintained. You will also ensure patients waiting more than the Trusts current waiting targets are identified to the waiting list manager for further action. You will contribute to effective communication links between all members of Endoscopy and associated Directorates, maintaining accurate electronic information systems, with previous experience of Meditech Version 6 being desirable.
You must have numeracy & literacy skills to Level 1 or equivalent and be educated to GCSE standard (Grade C or above), or equivalent, with experience of working with the general public in an administrative setting. Proven all-round administration skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and computer literacy are essential. Excellent organisational skills and time-management are also integral to the role. The ability to prioritise workloads is also desirable. An understanding of NHS waiting times would be an advantage.
At times you may be expected to work across sites, Trust-wide to support the needs of the Theatres Division.
The role is within usual office hours with the need to work flexibly in-line with needs of the Service.

Job responsibilities
The Postolder will be responsible for admin duties including, taking telephone calls, booking appointments to current target dates, updating patient pathways and other ad hoc administrative tasks.
