Job summary

Working in a fast paced Medical Education team, you will play a key part in ensuring our trainees have a positive experience working and training here at ESNEFT.

This role is a key link in evidencing educational governance in the Trust and supporting educators and trainees to progress in their chosen field.

Working closely with speciality tutors, the medical education team, clinical leads and trainees, this is a rewarding and interactive role, involving organising events and hands on training sessions.

Main duties of the job

  • Work independently, autonomously and act extensively on own initiative to co-ordinate, organise and deliver a responsive, innovative and high quality service to support local service areas to make improvements in both the learning environment and quality of learning for trainee doctors across Ipswich Hospital and Colchester Hospital.
  • Working with the Medical Education department, ensure the quality and governance processes of medical education set down by the GMC and Royal Colleges are adhered to.
  • Ensuring that trainee doctors are appropriately supported in their learning by liaising with local department leads, Clinical Supervisors, College Tutors and Educational Supervisors as required.
  • Working with College Tutors and Training Programme Directors, organise and advertise relevant teaching events, weekly/monthly teaching sessions, timetables and HUB days, workshops and learning events. Manage any correspondence relating to these events and programmes, including budget keeping.
  • Build upon the relationship between the Trust and the Royal Colleges.
  • To organise, attend and take the notes and action log for Faculty Boards and other meetings, in an accurate and concise manner - ensure they are typed, distributed, and stored, in accordance with group Terms of Reference and Trust policies and procedures.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent, including Maths and English GSCE to A-C/4 to 9 standard

Experience

Essential

  • 2 years administrative experience

Desirable

  • Working in an NHS environment

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge and proven experience of Microsoft Word and Excel

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Doctor education system

Personal Skills

Essential

  • Ability to deal appropriately with potentially sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability and experience of prioritising workloads, working within strict guidelines and deadlines/timescales and undertaking tasks under own initiative
  • Ability to communicate with all people
